Greens Support Zelena Lista in Croatian Elections
The Spokespersons of the European Green Party today
expressed their enthusiastic support for Zelena Lista which is participating for the
first time in Croatia’s parliamentary elections on Sunday 25th
November. Zelena Lista was recently accepted as an observer party to the
EGP by a unanimous vote . EGP Co-Spokesperson EGP Co-Spokesperson Philippe
Lamberts continued: "Zelena Lista
represents a break with traditional and old fashioned politics and wants
to restore public confidence in the political process by offering voters the
possibility of another type of politician, not involved in power deals and not
tainted by corruption. It is a party which recognises the crucial role
played by civil society organisations. Czech Greens have shown that in the former
so-called socialist countries a Green Party can fulfil the responsibilities
which a position in government entails. Their role has changed the
country’s politics and is creating more space for civil society
organisations, in the fields of womens’ rights, education and
human rights, to grow and participate even more fully in society. We are
confident that Zelena Lista can help bring about a similar transformation in
Croatian society. We know that Zelena Lista is there to stay and develop its role
in the future. We call upon Croatian voters to support Zelena Lista in this
goal by voting for them on November 25th.” Graham Burgess Communications Officer European Green Party Tel no :+32 2 626 0724 email: www.europeangreens.org |
