Dear colleagues,
Before we all go off on holiday, I thought I would send you all a reminder of
the Press Officers meeting scheduled for the EGP Council Meeting in Vienna in October. There
is a meeting for press officers scheduled for Saturday 13th October
from 10.00 to 12.00. There will also be a meeting of Campaign Managers at
the same time as the Press Officers’ meeting. The reason why it will take
place on the Saturday morning and not on the Friday as originally planned is
that there is a meeting of the Party Leaders on the afternoon of Friday 12th
and it is important that as many press officers and campaign managers as
possible take part in that meeting. The meeting will discuss the election
campaign for 2009 and will also include a presentation from some Green ministers
from countries where Greens are in government! On the Friday evening there will
be a public event which we hope will get a lot of media coverage. The guest
speaker still has to be confirmed but we hope it will be Sir Nicholas Stern. I
am sorry that we have had to put our meeting back to the Saturday morning but I
think you will get a lot out of Friday’s programme.
I enclose the draft
programme for you to have a look at, but I must stress that it is very much a
draft at this stage and is subject to changes so please bear this in mind! It
shouldn’t be circulated outside Green parties at this stage.
Helmut Weixler or I will
be in touch again after the summer break with more details of the meeting in Vienna. I am looking into
setting up a “messenger” system that we can use to communicate with
each other and will contact you about that shortly.
